  1. 0 CDPC Multimedia PC Installation
  2. 0 ══════════════════════════════
  3. 1 Welcome to the CDPC Multimedia PC Install Utility.
  4. 2 This program will install the software to access your CDPC
  5. 2 and play audio with your games and applications.  It will modify
  6. 2 your 'autoexec.bat' and 'config.sys' files to load the appropriate
  7. 2 driver when your system is started.
  8. 3 If you want to select a different directory, press the BACKSPACE key
  9. 3 to erase the name shown below.  Then type the name of the directory
  10. 3 where you want to store the install files.  When the directory shown
  11. 3 below is correctly named, press ENTER to continue the install.
  12. 4 THIS IS A TEST OF THE DMA/IRQ SETTINGS.
  13. 5 Use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to highlight the item and press ENTER
  14. 5 to select.
  15. 6 The installation program is ready to copy files into the directory
  16. 6 shown below, which it will create on your hard disk.
  17. 7 These are the values for installing your CDPC.  The highlighted
  18. 7 field is your current selection.
  19. 8 If you want to change any data, use the UP and DOWN arrow keys to select
  20. 8 and press ENTER.  To start installation, select 'Complete Changes' and
  21. 8 press ENTER.
  22. 9 Select the DMA value that you want.  The default DMA value is '3'.
  23. 10 Select the IRQ value that you want. The default IRQ value is '5'.
  24. 11 If you select 'YES', your 'autoexec.bat' file will be modified and the
  25. 11 old copy will be saved into 'autoexec.old'.  If you select 'NO', your
  26. 11 'autoexec.bat' will not be modified.
  27. 12 Use the UP and DOWN arrows and press ENTER to select a value.
  28. 12 Press ESC to cancel.
  29. 13 If you select 'YES', your 'config.sys' file will be modified and the
  30. 13 old copy will be saved into 'config.old'.  If you select 'NO', your
  31. 13 'config.sys' will not be modified.
  32. 14 Installation Information:
  33. 15 You have finished installing your CDPC.
  34. 15 Reboot your system, after which you can start
  35. 15 using the CDPC.
  36. 16 Cannot perform board test.
  37. 17 Cannot find file:
  38. 18 WARNING:  You cannot successfully install your
  39. 18 CDPC Multimedia PC if the file named above is
  40. 18 missing.  Please check your install disk for
  41. 18 files.  Press F3 to exit.
  42. 19 WARNING:  The CDPC Multimedia PC may not have
  43. 19 been installed properly since you did not choose
  44. 19 to modify 'config.sys'.  For configuration
  45. 19 changes you should allow the install program to
  46. 19 modify 'config.sys'.
  47. 20 No changes were made by this install program.
  48. 21 Cannot copy SOURCE to the same TARGET Directory.
  49. 22 Press F3 to exit.
  50. 23 The CDPC Multimedia PC cannot be initialized.
  51. 23 Try to do the install again.  If you cannot
  52. 23 succeed after a few tries, your board may
  53. 23 be defective.
  54. 24 Insert the next disk and press ENTER:
  55. 25 The file 'filelist.txt' has invalid format.
  56. 26 This file is missing and cannot be copied.
  57. 27 This file is required for unarchiving the
  58. 27 shipped files.
  59. 28 The installation program detects that the
  60. 28 directory shown below already exists.
  61. 29 Press ENTER to continue.

  64. 31 If you select 'YES', the installation files will be copied to the
  65. 31 install directory which you have specified.
  66. 31 If you select 'NO', the installation files will NOT be copied.
  67. 32 If you select 'YES' , the DMA and IRQ settings will be tested.
  68. 32 The test will not be performed if you select 'NO'.
  69. 33 If you select 'YES', the CDPC joystick port will be enabled.
  70. 33 If you select 'NO', the joystick will be disabled.  The
  71. 33 default value is 'YES'.
  72. 34 Select the IRQ value that you want. The default IRQ value is '7'.
  73. 35 WARNING: Do not mix old files with new files.
  74. 35 Press ENTER to continue.  Press  F3 to exit.
  75. 36 ATTENTION:  If you are attempting to
  76. 36 select an IRQ other than 2, 3, 5, or 7.
  77. 36 some software will NOT run if an IRQ
  78. 36 other than 2, 3, 5, or 7 is selected.
  79. 36 If you are attempting to select a DMA
  80. 36 other than 1 or 3, some software will
  81. 36 NOT run if a DMA channel other than
  82. 36 1 or 3 is selected.
  83. 37 SUCCESS:  A sound file will be played and it will automatically
  84. 37 stop by itself.  Press ENTER to continue the installation.
  85. 38 FAILURE:  A sound file will continuous loop and will not stop
  86. 38 playing which might indicate the IRQ is in conflict.  Press ESC
  87. 38 to return to the configuration menu to change the IRQ setting.
  88. 39 FAILURE:  A sound file does not play, i.e., no sound, which
  89. 39 might indicate the DMA is in conflict.  Press ESC to return to
  90. 39 the configuration menu to change the DMA setting.
  91. 40 If all attempts fail, you may have a defective board.
  92. 41 Software has not been installed in the default:
  93. 42 directory.  You must install the software BEFORE
  94. 42 setting the hardware or run the install in the
  95. 42 directory where you installed the software.
  96. 43 Select the DMA value that you want. The default DMA value is '1'.
  97. 44 The installation program cannot detect your
  98. 44 CDPC Multimedia PC. You must first install
  99. 44 the CDPC Hardware in your PC completely and
  100. 44 correctly.  Reboot your computer.
